Dear reader, help me make Stitch better
I'm kindly asking for a few minutes of your time. Please help me make this publication better
It’s been six months since I started a Substack. And it’s time for reflection. Firstly, I want to reintroduce myself and Stitch to those who don’t know me or have only recently joined us. Stitch is a newsletter about sustainable fashion and personal style written by me (Nives Bošnjak), a freelance fashion writer. Before starting Stitch, I worked as a fashion editor for Büro Croatia, a web editor for Elle Croatia, an editor-in-chief for Super1 (Telegram), and a fashion writer for Grazia Croatia. I started Stitch out of the desire to offer fashion content that's not dispensable. Its goal is to create a community of fashion-savvy individuals who can use it as a forum to connect over meaningful clothes. It is also an educational newsletter that offers the reader information and solutions on how to dress more sustainably, along with facts on fashion history, garment care, and new technologies.
The newsletters come out triweekly and cover educational, personal, and shopping topics. An educational newsletter about sustainable fashion comes out every Tuesday. Thursdays are for notes about my style and thoughts on personal style in general. And Fridays are reserved for sustainable shopping guides.
Educational
Educational newsletters are divided into four monthly columns, each bringing a different perspective on sustainable fashion.
‘How to Care for Your Garments’ is a monthly column with tips and tricks to keep your garments in superb condition so you’ll love them for as long as possible. From removing pilling to storing your clothes, we've got you covered. It comes out every first Tuesday of the month.
‘So You Need a…’ is a guide to choosing the most sustainable options within the big garment groups like white T-shirts or sneakers. The column will teach you what to look out for and how to make informed choices. Catch it every second Tuesday of the month.
‘Threads in Time’ is here every third Tuesday of the month to take you on a journey through fashion history. Each issue focuses on the story of a particular garment or designer piece, from the iconic Margiela Tabi boots to the history of jeans.
‘The Myth Hunter’ is a monthly series within the Stitch newsletter that helps you separate fact from fiction in sustainable fashion. We debunk the biggest myths and misconceptions in the industry, from compostables versus biodegradables to handmade versus machine-made clothes. Catch it every fourth Tuesday of the month.
Personal
Every Thursday, I deliver a Personal Note. It’s a weekly newsletter through which we dive into the world of personal style. Through it, I explore the transformative power of clothes, share my favorite outfits and inspirations, and discuss the emotional connection between fashion and identity.
Shopping
Savvy Scoop is the newest column from Stitch, launched in April. It comes out every Friday, bringing the greatest secondhand, vintage, and new but sustainable discoveries to your inbox. This column isn’t supposed to make you shop more, but smarter. Through it, you’ll learn how to shop more sustainably and maybe find just that perfect thing you’ve been looking for for months.
Now that you have an overview of everything going on at Stitch, I need your help. In my opinion, the next chapter of Stitch should have less content, but that content should be more useful for you guys. However, I want to hear what you think first. I’m also contemplating paid subscriptions and need your opinion on that. Below is an anonymous survey that will take 15 minutes of your time. It would be of great help to me if you could squeeze those 15 minutes into your schedule over this long weekend. Next week I’m taking a break from Substack. I will review your answers, draw some conclusions, and return with a fresh newsletter issue on May 9th.
